Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 17, 2026 · Last updated: June 17, 2026

Clarulo ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your personal and financial information. This Privacy Policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: When you request access or create an account, we collect your name, email address, and the reason you provided for wanting access.

Financial data via Plaid: When you connect a bank account, Plaid (our banking data partner) provides us with transaction history, account balances, and income information. We receive this data on your behalf. Your bank credentials are never shared with or stored by Clarulo.

Credit data: If you choose to pull your credit report, we request it on your behalf from our credit bureau partner. This data is stored encrypted and used only to populate your dashboard.

Usage data: We collect information about how you interact with the app — tabs visited, features used, sync frequency — to improve the product. We do not sell this data.

Technical data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and access logs, used for security and debugging.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Clarulo service
  • To compute your financial health score and spending recommendations
  • To send transactional emails (waitlist updates, account confirmations)
  • To detect fraud, abuse, and security incidents
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not use your financial data for advertising purposes. We do not sell your data to third parties.

3. Data Sharing

We share your information only with the following categories of service providers, strictly for the purpose of delivering our service:

  • Plaid Technologies, Inc. — bank connection and transaction data
  • Supabase, Inc. — database, authentication, and infrastructure
  • Resend, Inc. — transactional email delivery
  • Netlify, Inc. — application hosting

We require all service providers to maintain confidentiality and security standards consistent with this policy.

4. Data Security

We store all financial data encrypted at rest using AES-256. Data in transit is protected by TLS 1.2 or higher. We use row-level security on our database so each user can only access their own data. Access tokens from Plaid are stored encrypted and never exposed to your browser.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we delete your personal and financial data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data
  • Receive a portable copy of your data

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@clarulo.com.

7. Cookies

We use only functional cookies necessary to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

8. Children's Privacy

Clarulo is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us immediately.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of Clarulo after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
